ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO and a key member of the leadership team the Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of 96three FM and works towards the strategic objectives of Geelong Christian Media/96three with a particular focus on legislative, administrative, creative and community responsibilities. 

As a new position in the organisation, the Operations Manager leads a team of approximately 20 staff and volunteers in the daily operations of the station with approximately 4 direct reports. 

The role provides supervision and guidance for all 96three FM content and events, representing the station at internal and external events as part of 96three’s commitment to its Community Consultation Strategy & Structured Engagement program.

Working closely with the CEO the Operations Manager is responsible for providing vision and leadership for the operational management of the station and cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to the benefit of Geelong Christian Media. 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will be passionate about broadcasting the reality of Jesus. You will have high levels of integrity, honesty, and transparency in your dealings with others. You will be team-oriented and committed to representing the radio ministry as part of the leadership team.

You will have demonstrated experience in an Operations Manager role with strong financial and commercial acumen. You will have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer focus and a demonstrated ability to deliver results through leadership. Ideally you will have experience within radio broadcasting and a working knowledge of ACMA and other federal, broadcasting regulations.

Relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable but not essential.

JOB PURPOSEThis position is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of 96three FM in line with the strategic objectives of Geelong Christian Media (trading as 96three FM). The role has a particular focus on legislative, administrative, creative and community responsibilities. 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversee and coordinate the continuous, multifaceted daily operations of the radio station, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards, relevant federal and state laws, and regulations. Maintain accurate schedules, records, and follow-through communications, ensuring all on-air broadcast programming complies with ACMA and Geelong Christian Media regulations and policies. Participate in the establishment, organisation, and implementation of short and long-term objectives, policies, and operating procedure. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and drive and facilitate ongoing improvement. Direct and administer the provision of day-to-day operational support to the various departments of the station, including the non-engineering portions of the station’s physical plant, space allocation and utilization, station supplies and inventory, and station safety and security. Plan, establish, and maintain organisational structures and systems that enable staff and volunteers to effectively accomplish the organisation’s mission and objectives. Training, scheduling, problem resolution, and performance management of staff and volunteers. Coordinate departmental workshops, special projects, and events. Develop and implement systems to maintain records on station operations, volunteers, equipment, and compliance activities; prepares regular reports. Provide advice and assistance to senior station management in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of modifications to existing operations, systems, and procedures. Research and make recommendations to management pertaining to acquisition of operating equipment; participate in the development and management of annual operating budgets. Provide services as an on-air host, as required. Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE & SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE
5+ Years of experience Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff and to work cooperatively in a team environment. Highly developed oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the capacity to interact effectively with a wide range of diverse stakeholders, creative professionals, senior management, staff, contractors, and volunteers.  Proven relationship-building abilities and skills in maintaining external and internal relationships. Demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder liaison. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, conflicting deadlines, and self-directed workflow. Project Management experience. Intermediate/advanced skills across a range of job-related software and social media applications including all aspects of MS Office Suite. Knowledge of ACMA and other federal, broadcasting regulations. Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow management. Understanding of facilities management, physical plant, safety, and building safety and security procedures.
RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS
Qualification in business / operations management or related field or the equivalent experience. Experience in management, operations, and leadership.
