Mix 104.9FM announces Andrew Thain, Sarah Passalick as new Breakfast Show hosts

A new duo will be hitting the Top End’s airwaves on the Mix 104.9 Darwin Breakfast Show from next week.The station has announced that from Tuesday, Sarah Passalick will join current Mix 104.9FM Breakfast Show presenter Andrew Thain to make up a new hosting team. Passalick, who has more than 12 years’ experience in radio, mostly with Darwin’s Hot 100FM, said that she was excited about joining Mix 104.9FM. The news comes after former Breakfast Show host Greg Vincent quit the station in November 2020 and co-host Ali Burton went on extended leave earlier this year.

ABC Radio Sydney calls time on the pips

Regular listeners will notice something missing from radio broadcasts, ABC Radio Sydney has turned off the pips, the series of beeps that played at the end of the hour, usually followed by the familiar sound of the news theme. The final pips were played on Thursday November 24. Once used by listeners to set their watches, the six short tones have been deemed unnecessary in the age of digital radio and smart phones.
