Vale Yvonne Lawrence

Former 3AW presenter Yvonne Lawrence died aged 85 in Melbourne on February 19. She began with the station in 1969 and was with the talk station for 30 years. Yvonne also had a stint on 3AK and in her later years had a regular column in the Melbourne Observer.

Starting her career as a copywriter, manager Bob Quinn quickly moved Yvonne on air to become one of 3AW’s “NightOwls”, the women who hosted the midnight to dawn program.

In 1989 Yvonne took over the Saturday evening program which had previously been hosted by Wanda Kingston and Helen Jackson before her. This was a role which Yvonne held until 1999.

Mark Petkovic was her panel operator for 10 years. He is still a part of the 3AW team.
