ABC Radio Perth drops breakfast host Stan Shaw after less than a year

ABC Radio Perth has dropped breakfast host Stan Shaw less than a year after putting him into the morning hot seat. Shaw, who was hired to boost the slot in January, revealed the shock news himself less than 11 months in the job, sharing his contract had not been renewed.

WA born and bred, Stan has called the south-west of the state home for 15 years, presenting ABC radio programs in Esperance, Albany, Perth and Bunbury.

  1. I was sad to see Stan leave ABC radio in Bunbury. If there is no longer a position for him in Perth, maybe he could come back to the country

  3. I was a convert to the ABC Perth breakfast because of Stan Shaw. Very easy to listen to and is true to himself. Sorry to see him go, I wish him well but the ABC has lost a listener because of it.

  4. I’m so sad to hear this. I have always listened to ABC radio.
Can’t imagine why you would do this. I’m afraid you have lost a loyal listener. What are you thinking.

  5. Very disappointed that Stan was ousted before his time was up. We miss him in Bunbury WA, but I have to say he shone in the Perth ABC and with all the gang it was very entertaining, informative, homely and inviting. In fact it made it get the APP so I can tune into Perth ABC gang, especially “breakfast with Stan” and his boys from the booth. What a great bunch.
I know going back is difficult, but he would be gladly received back in Bunbury ABC where we lack male voices and interests.
Please keep him local if he wishes that is.

As we knew , he headed to Perth , with a 12 contract and we assumed that he will be returning to ABC , Bunbury ?

  7. I feel like I have been on another planet. Shame on the ABC if Stan has lost his job. He was great and the first person since Russell Wolff to bring the ABC Perth Breakfast Show back to its former glory. He also moved his family from the south west to Perth .. I wish him the very best.

  8. A bad move ABC. I was once an all day listener but in 2023 have only tuned into Stan Shaw. All gone downhill in last few years. I blame management.

  9. Can’t believe the abc have let Stan go. We loved waking up with Stan and his crew, his rapport with the newsreaders and Jess from the weather bureau was great. Bye, abc Stan was your best presenter won’t be tuning in any more.

  10. Such a shock! – I have enjoyed Stan’s breakfast show as much as Eion Cameron’s. I will miss listening to Stan as i wake up each morning. i think he added a lot to the morning experience. This has been a very bad decision ABC! Best wishes Stan for the future.

  11. Stan Shaw is the best voice to wake up to in the mornings. My whole family look forward to turning Stan on and we all say “good morning Stan” as the radio springs to life in the mornings. Very disappointed that he won’t be with us in 2024. We will be listening elsewhere.

  12. I’m mystified by the decision not to renew Stan’s contract. He is such a great presenter. I loved his quick wit and nice voice.

I’m sure he’ll go on to better things. All the best Stan.
