2NURFM is a community radio station operated by the University of Newcastle and has been broadcasting on FM 103.7 to the greater Newcastle Hunter region for over 40 years. The Station broadcasts easy listening music, local news and specialty programs 24 hours a day from its studios located at the leafy Callaghan Campus.

We seek a leader with a proven track record in leading a broadcasting or media organisation, with demonstrated strategic capability to lead the Stationís key planning reports and submission requirements, including 2NURís five year strategic plan, annual corporate plans and run the day to day operations of the Station. In addition, you will


∑       Manage and contribute to a portfolio of compliance obligations and improvement projects;

∑       Monitor, maintain, report and meet all community broadcasting licence conditions and the ACMA regulations and obligations;

∑       Provide day-to day management and professional supervision and development of all staff, students and volunteers;

∑       Oversee of the Stationís sponsorship revenue and fundraising income targets are met. Manage, monitor and report the annual expenditure and income budget; and

∑       Provide management, technical and compliance oversight of 2NURFMís transmission and broadcast operations including program and content across all traditional and digital media platforms.

About you

You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, problem solve and resolve conflicts, along with


∑       Extensive strategic planning and management capabilities, along with relevant experience in media and broadcasting at a senior level, ideally within the community broadcast;

∑       Proven experience and success in leading broadcasting technology operations and digital media knowledge and skills;

∑       Experience with a strong track record of leading and managing projects, including change management program; and

∑       Deep understanding of the Broadcasting Act (1992), the ACMAís role and Community Broadcasting Regulations and relevant postgraduate qualifications.

This three year contract is offered with an attractive remuneration package. The base pay of $112,869 or more (commensurate with experience and qualifications) plus a generous 17% superannuation contribution.
