NEW 4BH DRIVE TIME HOST

1116 4BC General Manager, David McDonald , said today the 1116 4BC Drive program will be hosted by Michael P. Smith following the resignation of current presenter, John Miller .

McDonald said “ Michael Smith is a rare new talent that only happens along once in a while. The 1116 4BC Drive program will now be the vehicle for his incisive interviewing style and pointed commentary. His contemporary approach has already attracted a loyal following amongst the 4BC audience.”

Michael has been a commentator with 1116 4BC for 18 months, a far cry from his various roles as a member of the armed forces, a Police Officer, the General Manager of Vodafone in Queensland and the Managing Director of the Queensland Orchestra. 

David McDonald added. “1116 4BC is confident that Michael Smith has all it takes to go a long way in the radio business. He is a passionate and proud Australian and that is reflected in his work”.

Michael Smith will take up his role as Drive host on 1116 4BC from Monday June 30.  

The new Drive program will be extended from 3pm until 6pm. Currently it runs from 4pm until 6pm. Afternoons with Rod Tiley and Alex Bernard will run from midday until 3pm.“Sports Today” with Billy J Smith will also be extended from 6pm until 8pm.

John Miller

1116 4BC General Manager, David McDonald today officially announced that after almost 15 years continuous service with the radio station, broadcaster and journalist, John Miller , would be reducing his involvement with 1116 4BC.

“John is keen to pursue some of his own projects that have been waiting in the wings and now his children are developing their own careers he believes it’s time to move on”, McDonald said.

He added, “While this has been on John’s mind for some time and he has now officially resigned, we were keen for him to have some on-going involvement with the radio station. To that end we are pleased to announce that John will present Summer Weekend Afternoons on 1116 4BC starting in October.  He will also be involved with special events on the station and be a regular fill-in for his colleagues when they take breaks”.

John Miller said while it was with some sadness that he would be leaving his regular Drive program on June 27 and would miss the interaction with his many dedicated listeners, he was looking forward to the challenges of his new opportunities, both outside and at 1116 4BC.
