Harbour Terror by Steve Ahern

A teenage community radio announcer gets caught up in a plot to kill a member of the British royal family in Harbour Terror, a new novel by Steve Ahern released in Australia and internationally this month.

The book is aimed at teenager readers and includes discussion of contemporary media themes and terrorism.

Former ABC Radio manager Steve Ahern is a broadcaster, media commentator and trainer. He now works at the Australian Film Television & Radio School and is the author of the well known radio text book, Making Radio, published by Allen & Unwin.

“This novel explores the vulnerability of teenagers who, in their rebellion against authority, often become pawns in other people’s games. It shows how terrorism could happen here in Australia… I’ve explored how the media influences teenagers and have included contemporary news events in the story,” says Ahern

Steve Ahern says community radio broadcasters will recognize elements of their station in the fictional station WOR FM, where the action is set.
