Fine Music Station transmitting into
21st Century
Sydney fine music radio
station 2MBS FM has unveiled a state-of-the-art-transmitter to
listeners, seamlessly switching broadcast of its classical and jazz
program.
The new Nautel
transmitter is up-and-running as a result of the tireless efforts of
generous 2MBS FM supporters and volunteers, who were instrumental in
its funding and installation.
The donation appeal was
spearheaded by one of Australia’s finest pianists, Gerard
Willems.
In addition to improved
broadcast quality, benefits of the new model include reduced
electricity consumption and easier
maintenance.
The updated transmitter
marks a significant technical modernisation for the station,
replacing a model in service for over twenty
years.
David Brett, 2MBS-FM
Chairman, is thrilled to introduce the high-tech change to
listeners.
“2MBS FM has entered the
21st century with our transmission equipment, ensuring
superior quality and continuous broadcasting of our fine
music.
“I’d like to thank the
skill and dedication of our technical volunteers, and the generosity
and passion of our supporters who have made this key transition
possible,” said David.
Predominantly volunteer operated, 2MBS FM is a community
radio station featuring a rich variety of fine classical and jazz
music from the world’s most renowned composers, orchestras,
ensembles and soloists.
Broadcasting since 1975, 2MBS FM 102.5 is Australia’s
first stereo FM radio station.
